So this October marks the 2nd annual American Cheese Month. A lot has changed within the small world of Artisanal American cheese over the past year- more and more exciting producers are being discovered and enjoyed. As new producers learn their craft and develop new gems, the old guard of masters like Jasper Hill, Uplands and Vermont Butter & Creamery continue to delight us with their consistent standbys. This month is about all of these folks and the hard work they put into making these gastronomical delights for you to devour.
If you’ve been in to The Wine Source recently, you’ll have noticed that our focus has been shifting from European to American (and most especially Vermont). For the month of October, we will not have just one Cheese of the Month, but instead we will be featuring all of our American Cheeses. We have carefully selected what we feel is the best of the best of American cheeses, and to make things more enticing we are offering a discount of a dollar off per pound on each of them. In conjunction with the celebration, we will be hosting some producer tastings and an American focused beer & cheese pairing (check the blog for more updates). Be sure to stop in and ask whomever is working the counter which are their current favorites.
