So while Adam & I are visiting Raleigh for the American Cheese Society Conference, I hope that you guys will take the opportunity to stop by The Wine Source and try our latest Cheese of the Month! For August, we decided to bring it back home & go with a local cheese. We are featuring Cedar Hill Farm’s Meadow (previously discussed here). This is one of my favorite local cheeses that we carry- not only for the quality of Meadow itself, but for the cool stuff they are doing at Cedar Hill Farm (check out their cheese cave– the first in Maryland!). It helps that the cheese is pretty tasty, too.

Made with raw, organic cow’s milk, Meadow is one of the most aptly named cheeses I’ve come across. Strong notes of clover and fresh cut grass are present with a pleasantly bitter finish.  I am glad that such an unconventional cheese is made practically in our backyard! For the month of August, we will be offering this local treat at the staggering price of $16/lb (regularly $20/lb). As always, be sure to come in & ask for a taste!
