April marks our second ever cheese of the month at The Wine Source! Each month we will choose one cheese we are especially excited about and offer it at a discounted price. Our hope is that many of you out there will use this as a chance to try a cheese you might usually glance over in the case, or that you are able to get your hands on one of your favorite cheeses at a great price! The cheese of the month for April is one I know many people already consider a favorite- Neal’s Yard Wensleydale.  This English cow’s milk cheese is even a favorite of noted celebrities, including these two:

Wallace & Gromit

For those of you out there unfamiliar with Wensleydale, it is made in Hawes, England and then aged by Neal’s Yard Dairy. The Wensleydale Creamery claims that the cheese dates all the way back to the 12th century, when it was made and perfected by Cistercian monks. The recipe eventually found its way to its current location at Wensleydale, where it is still handmade using milk from local farms. The first two words that come to mind for me when I think of Wensleydale are “pleasant” and “charming”.  Incredibly eatable, Wensleydale is a smooth, dense & moist cheese in texture, with a subtly tart, buttermilk tang at the finish. Perfect to bring to a party, for a pre-dinner course or even for breakfast.

So for the month of April, we will be offering this world-renowned cheese at the  absurd price of $13 per pound (down from $16). We hope that you will stop by The Wine Source and request a taste- I am certain you will find it just as charming as I do.
